The Building the Legacy/Construyendo el Legado training curriculum was
produced by NICHCY at the request of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) at the
U.S. Department of Education. The curriculum is intended to help all those involved with children
with disabilities understand and implement the IDEA 2004, the nation's special education law.

This video is a tool for families to help them prepare for transition from the Early Steps program to school district or other
community programs when their child is three years of age, and to know what to expect during the transition process.

PACER’s National FAST (Family Advocacy and Support Training) Project will provide family support

The Individual with Disabilities Education Act, (IDEA) is our nation's special education law.
The IDEA guides how states, school districts, and public agencies provide early intervention,
special education, and related services to more than 6.5 million eligible infants, toddlers,
children, and youth with disabilities.
